I found out today why I'm waiting for my truck. It turns out there are 150 trucks sitting in St. Louis because the vendor recalled the 6spd trans. This is from the plant manager who my dealer spoke to today. They are waiting on parts... ... .
All this after several weeks of fibbing and playing the shell game with corporate in Detroit and St. Louis trying to get a delivery date. I was originally told 2-3 weeks from date of order to delivery. That was 3 months ago.
Maybe the germans can fix this kind of crap. I don't mind if I get a straight answer, but trying to turn me into "Mr. Mushroom" (in the dark and fed bullsh@t) really ticks me off.

Waiting is tuff enough without a run around.
My 2001 came a lot faster than the 97. The 97 took 6 1/2 months and took years off of my life and a letter to the CEO. The bottom line is you have to wait no matter what until it shows up a the dealers!!!! I hope your wait is not too much longer.

Wonder if trucks in Mexico have same situation. Mine is suppose to have shipped as of the 2nd. Suppose to be here NLT 3 weeks later. Waiting anxiously.

When was your order placed, when was it said to be finished, is it on rail car now and what did you order? FWIW I have one on order too...

I placed my order 28 Nov '00. I was told 2-3 weeks from order to delivery. My dealer merged with another after my order had been placed. Chryco deleted the order because some a$$hole didn't think to check out the new dealer code. I checked in on 15 Dec and was told everything is going fine, it'll be here 29 Dec. On 29 Dec I was told wait until 8 Jan. So on 8 Jan '01 I asked where my truck was, lo and behold the truth starts to come out. I was then told that 7 Feb was the date, the 10th at the latest. Yesterday I found out they were holding my truck for a QA check, which turned into my original post. They deleted my name from the order when it was re-entered and nobody thought to check the reason for a deliver sold to customer code in the order. Mind you I've bought a 5th wheel out of state in the meantime since I had been assured of an on time delivery. My dealer isn't the problem here (my family has bought from this guy for years) - its the pile of monkeys trying to screw the football at corporate.

I ordered a truck three weeks ago.
First I worried about the layoffs, now I'm worried about the factory waiting for a six speed. What's next?

This is murder!

Hi all, just did some digging into the status of my truck.
a) stopped by dealer today, got the VIN and VON. Their status showed the truck shipped on the 6th (left the factory) and is being stored someplace before putting a railcar. Per Fritz's website, this means it has to be near New Orleans.

b) as you may of guessed I researched Fritz's site to check on status of truck. Initially I was suppose to have the truck last week until we found out it was being built it Mexico.

c) Checked on the status of my truck per customer service and no code was given, but was told it was still in production. #ad
The sweet young thaang on the phone gave me the deer-in-the-headlight pause when I asked for a status code???

So what is the status of this truck that was ordered 12/11/00. Order was accepted 1/6/01 by the plant. HAVE NO CLUE! #ad
Guess it will get here when it gets here. Between this snafu and BD's snafu on the new plug n power I'm thinking things I shouldn't be right now. Good luck to you all...

I'm hoping the cliche' of "good things come to those who wait" is true.

Can someone please tell me what the recall is on the 6 speed ? Mine only has 800 miles on it and it has syncronizer problems when downshifting from sixth to fifth. Wonder if it might be related to the recall.

Charlie,
I wasn't given a technical explanation. I was told that the vendor notified Chrysler that there were 150 trucks affected. My understanding was that the affected vehicles were in St. Louis. There was supposed to be an initial shipment of 20 replacement trannies, but they only received 4!!!!

Sorry I can't tell you anything more, keep your fingers crossed.

Runaway,
My truck was also "shipped" on the 7th. My dealer showed me the daily report. When it didn't show up, I started asking questions until I got an answer. It's a 2 day delivery from St. Louis to my dealer. Once he made a few calls we found out that St. Louis has no qualms about "fibbing".

Stopped at the dealer to find out this weeks "story" on my truck. Its still in storage in St Louis waiting on these phantom parts/upgrades to the 6-speed per the Regional/District Rep that was at the dealer ship today. Couldn't/wouldn't elaborate on the upgrades/problems that are being experienced right now.

They said they could put an expedite tag on the truck when parts come in, I just looked at them and said, "mine and the other several hundred trucks waiting fro these parts. "

We got a good laugh anyway...

Any of you other guys waiting on six-speeds heard anything differenent????

Sorry to hear all the problems you fella's are having obtaining your vehicles,I had one of the first 6-speed's avaible took delivery of the truck 12-14-99,all I can say when you get one you will really enjoy it,keep you fingers X.

Runaway, I think your dealer is really shining you on.

I orderd my truck Sat. Feb 3rd.
It arrived at the dealership (built in Mexico) Wed. 2/28 @ 5:40pm.

They are doing the final prep tonight. I'm picking up the truck in the morning. (Already wen't for a little test drive while it was dirty. )

It's a 6 speed. If DC has the parts to build mine, then yours should already be fixed!

Called my dealer today to see how much longer till the new beast is in-guess what? Sitting in St. Louis in a holding pattern... he said he has 7 including mine waiting. He'd heard nothing about the 6-speed problem-and I never thought to ask him if the other 6 beside mine were 6-spd. equipped. Oh well-what can you do? More time to line up toys right?

Jason

The DEE's are popular trucks. I wonder if they are going to dealers that sold them for a higher price?
