Just letting u guys know that I had a Fram oil filter on the truck and notticed the oil pressure went down some and went and replaced the sending unit and nothen. So I went and bought a Baldwin filter and it is back to normal. Hope this helps some one from trouble in the future. Justin:D

Being a race engine builder I stoped using fram filters a long time ago. I know there are a lot of people that have never had any problems with them but I have traced engine failures to the filter. I remember there being a lot of topics posted about fram filters here. the way the filter is constructed is the problem.

Hopefuly you don't have any unwanted particals floating around in your engine.

Fleetguard

Justin - I don't know about the quality of Baldwin, they may be fine. I use Fleetguard filters on my truck. Do a search, someone posted a list of filters that were approved by Cummins, and I don't think Fram was on the list. This info was also in one of the recent TDR magazines. Good luck.

*NEVER* use a Fram filter on a Cummins engine! There are documented occurrances of engine failures directly attributable to Fram filters!

Search the archives for the details, but if I remember correctly, under high oil pressure conditions some type of silicone sealant in the filter comes loose and tends to lodge in the little nozzles which spray oil on the undersides of the pistons in order to cool them.

Justin take that fram filter and cut the top off with a hacksaw and look in side and see what is in side it, not much. Then take the paper off the metal, cut down one side of the paper, then un-roll it and messure it. Then do a Fleetguard and you will figure it out. All heck go ahead and do one of those hi price Mobile 1 filters too beens you are at it.
