Archived Bad fuel / Fuel tank module

Can the screen at the bottom of the fuel tank module be removed and cleaned? I pumped some bad fuel,I have the tank out and clean. I am thinking that I may install the Fass that is sitting on the shelf and eliminate the factory fuel filter. I will take any advice from those that have been down this road! The truck is an '06 3500 4x4 mega cab 6spd man. I just had to drop the tank on my '94 w/305,000 to replace the tank lines that were bad. I think I can do this in my sleep.

I have heard that the screen on the tank module can be cleaned. Looking at 96 service manual there are two locking tabs on top of the tank module screen (filter) housing. Hopefully they have the same design for the 06.
