I just had the fuel return line replaced by Idaho Diesel Tech and they said that it might be a recall on the replacement, Is there any place I can find out about this?

What year and model engine ect. , is your truck, and why was the return line replaced? What was the problem with it? Your local dealer should know what the recalls are, call and ask them.

I don't know about a recall, but I had to replace mine too. It had a hairline crack right off the banjo fitting on the injector pump. I've heard about this happening to a few other guys, so if you have a fuel leak and can't find it that could be the cause. I had mine brazed for a temporary fix, but am replacing it with an aeroquip line to match the other ones.

Mine is a 96 and I have been asking questions about The engine not starting without a lot of cranking, I have been priming it for a week unless I park down hill. Every one thought it would be the return line leaking, I got it in my hands and it full of cracks from on end to the other. I have talked to my dealer and they said there was no recall on the return line. But they have lied to me before on other things, so I don't trust them. Thats why I'm asking the group about a recall.

CumminsAholic,

You might want to look closely at what fittings you replace the return line with. The banjo bolt at the injection pump is the pressure contol valve for the VP44. You may need to us an Aeroquip banjo fitting there and retain the bolt/pressure valve.

The problem with your return line is common and very well know among 12v owners. I believe the 24v has a hard line for the fuel return but I could be wrong. I remember in an older TDR issue reading about a TSB (or maybe it was a recall) for the fuel return line on the early 24v trucks, think they would crack and leak like mentioned by CumminsAholic.

PS: to prolong doing this repair again use diesel rated hose ( SAE J30R7 )and not the standard gasoline fuel line hose DC uses. I've heard Napa carries it or Marine boat shops.
