My first post so bear with me. Installed new DiPricol mech. fuel pressure guage last night. Hooked up to the VP44 with the shrader valve hose from Geno's, to the fuel isolater, bled it, put in antifreeze on the guage side, everything I was supposed to. Bumped the starter to hear and see and bleed fuel, seemed okay. Got everything hooked up and looking good, was reading 3lbs. fuel pressure. Took it for a spin, pressure was either sitting on zero or 3-4 lbs. , I know, not good! Bought a fuel filter today, bumped the starter, pump running, no pressure... ... . now, no start for the first time ever. My fault or just ****** off that lift pump that was going to quit soon any ways? 56k mile and change, still warrantied I hope... . bet the dealer will tell me I shouildn't have messed with that fuel system. Any suggestions?

Thankx everyone... . best darned site I've ever seen!!

Yep, Sounds like the lift pump. If you are about stranded, one thing I did when I had my 01 was to take the pump off, take the bottom off the pump and turn the rubber gasket over. That forces the vane portion of the pump back up into the "well" and the pump will develop reasonable pressure again. Of course the pump has to be a running pump, not dead electrically. This doesn't always work, but, like I said, it can work in a pinch.

bad lift pump

K, I teed my pressure guage off the main "in" pump supply line from filter, also next best thing and I would say a "must do", move the lift pump back just foward of the fuel tank! This will give you 14 lbs at idle and 8-10 lbs on highway! I thought I had a bad pump, bought a new one, it acted up, pump still in factory location, re located pump as mentioned, put original "bad" pump in line and have never looked back! Might have saved $158. 00, but do now have a spare. TL

Sounds like good advice, it's at the dealer now, will get it fixed for free this time. They'll check the VP44 while they're in there... . ( whether they want to or not)... . then I'll move the pump or install a carter pusher pump near the fuel tank and be done with this mess. . Then it's time for the big Edge Comp bomb... ... ... ... . YYEESSS!

Thanks everyone.
