Home Improvement!

My wife and I went shoppin' today to a town about 50 miles away, was my first run on my Xillaraider RACE, good MPG and power, very happy with it. But on the way home our world turned to ****. On a two lane 55mph road SC64 a young lady fell asleep behind the wheel (her words) and caught us at the front of the dually fender. Dislodged the rear axle about 12 inches, outer rim looked like a clam, tire never found, rear driveshaft was found on the road about 800 ft from where we stopped. I was able to keep it out of the marshes but did not get stopped for about 1500 ft. The young lady wound up in the marsh. Amazing no one was hurt. The young lady had insurance and a KIA which appears to be K. I. A. I'm just wondering if the diff axle tubes can be tweaked from this and a good way to check it Rear sping snapped but perches look okay. We all were very lucky except for my truck.

They build new trucks each and every day and it can be replaced. The main thing is no one was hurt, except for the young ladies pride. I am glad to hear you and the better half are ok. I'd let the insurance people determine whats hurt before you try anything. A hit like that can do alot of unseen damage which may not be visible to the naked eye... ... Andy

Glad to hear everyone walked away.

You can just about bet that axle housing is bent. About the only wat to check it and be sure is drop the carrier assy and throw a long straight edge across the cover flange and measure to the tubes. If the measurements are not the same close to the cover and at the endo fo the tubes. They are bent.

The other way would be lazer aleignment rack. But everything would need to be bolted back up under it.

Glad no one was hurt for sure, but I sure would use a body shop that warranties all fixes as long as you own the truck. We learned the hard way a few years back. Good Luck.

Glad no one was hurt Oo.

Pretty good advise so far on the truck!!!

Amazing that the other side was honest about what happened!!!!!!

I chased a bent rear axle housing for a while on my truck. Those are the only ways I found that would give you a known good idea of the axle housing condition.

Good to hear that no one got hurt.

That same thing happened to a buddy of mine when he was going up the canyon to go snowmobiling.

Someone hit his rear dual tire and broke the leaf spring and bent the axle tube.

$8000 later his truck had two new wheels/tire and a new axle. Good as new.

Sorry to hear about the truck. It can be replaced. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

I Do agree with Tony T. Do find a Body shop that warranties. Good Luck
