I tried Pennzoil "long life" 15w40 cummins spec'ed on my last oil change and got a surprise. On a 200 mile trip the truck spit 4 quarts out the vent tube. It did not occur to me that the oil was the problem, so I had the truck checked out. Found nothing, so did another oil change with Rotella---problem cured. something to keep in mind

Joe, very interesting situation. If the oil was the problem, why wasn't the problem still taking place when the truck was checked out prior to doing the oil change?

Very interesting, do not know what caused that to happen but it was not the oil. I am no fan of Pennzoil but none of the major brands are "BAD" products, some are better than others to be sure but there is another reason to spit out 4 qts like that.

The tech at the Cummins shop said that some oils even though cummins approved and spec'ed 15w40 can be to thin, and, or too easily caused to foam. --- All I know is Rotella from now on.
