I finally drove it into the ground and parked it. Right now it seems like the torque converter won't unlock which kills the engine when you stop and I broke the detent in it a couple of days ago. The engine will not accelerate even in nuetral or park. I can't get the turbo to spool even if I hold my pedal to the floor and then it will just gradually slow down and die. Was already in bad shape before this. Maybe the trans is bogging down the engine I don't know. I desperately need a pickup to work out of. I know mines not worth much money so I'm having trouble making a decision on what to do. My plan was to go buy a gasoline since I need another pickup anyway and then fix mine and sell it. So out of desperation I went and bought a 2002 ford 3/4 ton gas. Didn't make it 100 miles from the dealer and the trans was gushing fluid out of the bell housing. Took it to trans shop this morning only to discover it has more computer and electronic problems and a tc seal out. So I cancelled the check and told the dealer to come get it. Now I'm scared to go that route and wind up fixing another truck so I am thinking about just pouring money into mine and driving it till it's dead. Like I said it's not really worth anything to sell and I'm going to have in it what its worth after fixing it up, but if I fix mine right then I shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time if I keep it. So I guess let the bombing begin. I need to make a decision on the transmission and then I will get the injectors rebuilt and hope that fixes the problem. I've already replaced every component in the fuel delivery system. I would like to just take it somewhere that knows what they're doing and let them tune it up. Any one know of places like that near oklahoma or have any suggestions on what I should do? sorry for the long post but I needed to vent a little frustration.

without knowing the truck better , I'ld lean towrds fix what you know you've got, since you have some $ in it , one way to look at it is ,getting a used means talking on the troubles that the last guy is trying to get rid of , and used is at min. 1 major repair , buying new , well thats what 300-600 mnth. that will make a hell of a truck , and I'ld be willing to bet that for the cost of a new you'ld run out of things to buy before you spend that much, but you do need a base [ saveable truck ] try the classafides at the 2 CTD sites for the same as you've got , for spare parts, I see them for 6500-12,000, Sounds like a rock & a hard place.

My 2-bits is to fix the one you've got. I think it'd be cheaper. The decision is complicated by the fact that you need a truck pronto, but maybe you can get by without a truck for awhile. Back in the late 1980's I carried on a successful carpentry business for over a year using my 1980 Camaro! I removed the front seat and hauled around my radial arm saw by disassembling it and carrying it where the pass seat normally went. :-laf

I also figured out exactly the length of 2X6 I could carry, I think it was 10 feet, and used 10 footers on my jobs unless I could get them delivered. Where there is a will there is a way!
