2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Bad wheels...

On my '01 Ram, I have the 5 spoke, aluminum 8-lug wheels. About a year ago, I had to buy a new wheel due to a hole that formed on the old one. Today, while washing my truck, I noticed what seems to be a 4 or 5 inch crack on another wheel. Do these wheels have a history of being faulty? Where's the cheapest place to get new ones?

There have been a number of "cracked rims" mentioned on the TDR for the forged aluminum rims sold model years 2000-2002. Perhaps the site search feature can help you.

My father has a 2002 Dodge Dakota and just last week we found that the front left wheel had three (3) cracks in the spooks and 2 in the hub (aluminum wheels). We will inspect the other wheels when we get a chance, but would not be surprised to find several more cracks. Most likely will go to an aftermarket wheel.

The more I think about it, I think I may just go with aftermarket wheels also.
