I am having serious problems with my 92. Just re-installed my new injectors, back from being tested. Got it to run pretty well for about 10 minutes, then shut off. Crank back up, and it barely idles. It pours white/gray smoke the whole mile home. Try to bleed injectors, all look free of air except for #1, which just spews foamy diesel, no matter how long I bleed it. I have a decent size leak from the return line right where it bolts to the tappet cover. Could an air intrusion cause an injector to leak fuel? I took apart the injector and cleaned to be sure, is in fine shape. Truck runs like it is down an injector, shakes badly.

I had a hard time getting my system bleed out way back when I replaced my injection pump and injectors. But the fact you had it running well for a bit tells me your past that issue. I think your getting air into the system. Maybe lack of cool fuel has caused the pintel valve in the injector to jam ? or all the air is not allowing the pressure to build enough to pop the injector off.

Yeah, that would make sense. I'll let you know what happens with the new return line. Thanks for the response!

It ended up being #1 injector had a piece of debris stuck in the tip, causing it hang open and leak. New tip, and shes good to go now.

That's good you found it. Your injectors are inexpensive The common rail units not so much. You really need to keep things clean when ever you service fuel systems. I've found the best thing to do is wash everything lay all the parts on a towel to dry then as I'm installing them give them a rinse in clean fuel blow out the lines and then install. I can't tell you how many times I've found something got into that "clean " part after it was washed and waiting for install.
