Any one have 2003 Towing Guide

Might go down to Baja this Christimas, or week after, go as far as Mulege, last time down was in 77 a lot af changes since I believe. Have 96 ram that I use in piloting and r v transporting, would I have to remove all lights and signs to travel in Mex without any trouble ? One never knows what is in the minds of the Federales. Stormy Blue road

Lights in Baja

I've seen other trucks rigged as pilot vehicles and tow vehicles, also I have lots of lights on my off pavement camper. I have has no problems with the authorities or seen anyone else having problems. I go down there twice a year most years. We will leave for Baja again on the 16th, have a good trip, hope to see you in Baja!

baja trip

Baja used to be more relaxed than the mainland, I guess it still is. when I went in 1977 diesel was 09 cents a gallon, drove a 1960 Mercedes 190 d, most natives never saw a diesel car before, when in Santa Rosalia an attendant came running out to explain that the gas pump was up front and that I was at a diesel pump. after I tried to explain my motive power I took the fuel cap which was inscribed DIESEL, he looked confused until he smelled the cap. so I filled up, trip down and back cost $2. 25. Oh the good ole days. stormy

The most important thing to remember when you go to Mexico is to treat the Mexicans with respect... no "Hell, that is not the we do it back home". I have been travelling in Mexico for 40 years, and have not had any problems, just many great memories.

Have fun!

I just got back from a 3 week drive from San Francisco to Cabo San Lucas. Great trip, no problems. Have a great time, and if you want to grab some pesos before heading down, I've got plenty...

We're getting ready to head down right after Xmas. I don't think the Mexican police will care about you're lights or signs. Just make sure

there's no ammunition (even a spent 22 shell) in the your truck or RV.

Big NO NO!

Can't imagine a better place to spend the winter.

Love the life below the border! Yeah, don't be one of those idiots complaining that you can't communicate cause they don't speak English...

Another FYI, I just read about the illegality of carrying ANY prescription drugs without a prescription from a MEXICAN DOCTOR!!

Enjoy the fuel down there because it a heck of a lot better than what we're using (at least out west). I have a coworker that has a place on the beach South of San Felipe, they usally are down there 2-3 times a year vacationing and he says the difference is unreal, lower EGT, more MPG etc. He usually brings back 100+ gals with him every time he goes.

I agree on the fuel. I thought the difference was the fact that we arrive in the winter. . filled with winter fuel from the states. Not sure about that... but it certainly has more pep south of the border.

Just find the dirtiest diesel pump you can (lots of trucker use) and fill there. There are a lot of new Pemex stations going up these days and until they get "discovered' their fuel might sit awhile.

I just changed my filters 2 days ago and they were in good shape. After 3000+ miles of Baja, I figured they'd be pretty dirty. Not bad at all, much better than expected. The fuel filter was a little dark, but nowhere near as bad as the previous US miles. Then again, it was only about 5k on this one.

The air filter was the worst, but still not bad considering how dusty Baja was.

Now after some rain and 2 car washes, I've almost got all the mud off the inside of the doors... ;-)
