Freightliner FL70 questions

Flaky trailer brakes - new magnets?

I towed our smaller TT down with a group led by Vagabundos del Mar, then returned on our own schedule. Several big 5ers and RV's in the group, with no mishaps. It's a long trip. Plan on no more than 250-300 miles max per day and you'll enjoy it more.

The road is narrow, often with little or no shoulder, and you must go slow (55 max). Watch especially the switchbacks going up and down hills. You may be heading for a sharp curve just as an 18-wheeler is coming around toward you - be prepared to stop and let him pass.

Don't even think about traveling at night. Go especially slow in the populated areas - you sure don't want to be involved in any sort of accident. Don't go wandering off the main route in town with your trailer - you can easily get stuck where you can't get through or turn around.

I enjoyed it a lot - scenery and vegetation like I had not seen elsewhere. Beautiful beaches. Should have scheduled more time to poke around on the way back.

The Vag's have insurance and lots of helpful information.

Its been years since I drove down to Cabo... . maybe 10 or 12.

I had taken a bunch of girls hair bands, and other stuff ...

to give to the kids along the way as presents.

Well as it turns out..... the Federales loved those bands.....

they used them to blouse their boots... . ( tuck em ) .....

so I wound up giving two whole bags of those things away before I got to Cabo... .

Moral of the story..... take some gifts to give to the boy's ... ...

they don't make much money..... and it helps to smooth your way.

Mexico runs on Bakshesh ... ... be creative and proactive .....

Your best defense is a good offense... ... . give before they ask.

I liked La Paz a lot..... great beach a few miles out of there ..... don't miss it.

Have a great trip..... and say hi to Maria for me. :)

It is an awsome trip.

Good advice from above posts.

You will run into check points every hundred miles or so. these check points are in place due to US pressure on drug traficing etc. a bag of Candy, cookies, crackers, coffe or soda will help expedite thier inspections.

they got excited a few time when the stock of my speargun was seen sticking out behind other gear.

Yeah - for godsake don't take a gun into Mexico.

... . or at least have it concealed so well you can't get caught.

Better not to take it at all IMO.

Mexican prisons throw away the key.

Even pocket knives won't get past a metal detector / inspector

at the local bus stations.....
