Has any one used there fuel filter it is rated a 5 Microns Part # PF7977 need feed back . Hows it rate compared to Fleet guard FS 19800-E

We have used baldwin filters on all of our construction equipment for years , 40 or so excavators, loaders backhoes quite a few even have cummins' in them, never had any problem out of them

Just got some but have not used one yet. I just put a 7 micron in about 2k ago. Baldwin said that Bosche called for a 5 and they made a 5. Should have been a 5 back in 03.

Hey,

I was just wondering where you found the information that this new filter is rated for 5 microns???. I have been Googling all of the Baldwin dealers and corporate web sites and can't find any reference to this having a 5 micron spec. I would like to get some of these filters but want to be sure of what I am getting.

Thanks

Chuck

I called Baldwin and had them fax me the specs on it. My neighbor talked to a Baldwin Rep. Thats what started it with me but I wanted to see it in PRINT. Do a WEB search on Baldwin and call them. I can't find the phone numbers or info sheet. I talked to them a week ago then got two of them. It is PF7977

I called Baldwin and talked to enginering.

Its been nearly 6 months since this thread started. Can anyone express their opinions about the Baldwin PF7977 yet? It is supposed to be 5 micron absolute and 2 micron nominal at 98. 75% efficiency. I sure do want to swap over if they are as billed. A lot cheaper than GDP secondary without all the hassle.

My neighbor has used them about 30k or so (05 dually) with nothing to say about them. He and I both talked to Baldwin a ways back and Baldwin faxed me a copy with the specs.

Are you still using them as well? Everything I have read leads to me to believe that Baldwin makes a quality product but I was just wondering what other people that were actually using their products thought.

This bulletin, which doesn't cover the 7977 filter, nevertheless makes me wonder about other Baldwin filters.

Maybe I'm just paranoid? Maybe the test is irrelevant to this discussion?

test was made by fleetguard in 2001,thats like ford saying chevy stinks. If an independent company were to test them now that is something I might go by but the 5 micron has been nothing but good for me and my truck,I just ordered 6 more this past week.

Ryan I would have to agree with NLeach's analogy . Although I don't have any information on the PF7977, I've been using Baldwin filters in my Diesels for over 35 years and I haven't had any problems. I've also heard of all the reasons why a person shouldn't use them too, but in my experiences with them it makes me wonder where these people are getting their information from? This isn't their first rodeo they've been making filters almost 50 years longer than Cummins (Fleetgurad) or is it that I'm just lucky... .

I've got nothing against Baldwin, and I like the idea of the 5-micron replacements for the stock canister. But people keep saying how great they are and I'm the kind of person who needs to know why before I'm going to go out and buy any.

Ryan

What's that saying, "I'm from Missouri" :-laf No disagreement here maybe someone should post some lab results or whatever for your reference...

How I found out about them was my neighbor was in a auto parts store going to buy a fuel filter and wanted to make sure it was a 7mic and not a 10mic. A guy was behind the counter, heard this and said I'm a Baldwin rep and Bosch calls for a 5 mic and we just started making them. He/they didn't have one on hand but told neighbor to hold off a few days and the order would come in. I was doubtful and called Baldwin and got the same story plus they faxed me the specs on them etc.

Where do you all buy Baldwin filters from. Any idea what micron the Napa fuel filters are? I would like to use Baldwins, just no idea where to find them around here in Eastern NC. Scotty
