Thanks, TDR Staff

New to the site, many questions.

Autometer fuel pressure gauge (not for dodge diesel)?

Ram 2500 & 3500 Cummins Diesel

1998. 5 - 2002 5. 9L Cummins Engine

The GT37R dual ball-bearing turbo

A Garrett exclusive ball bearing cartridge for unbeatable response, efficiency, and durability. Elimination of the thrust bearing eliminates Failures at elevated boost levels

The upgrade results in lower intake and exhaust gas temperatures as well as reduced backpressure for more efficient air flow

Water-cooled center section with a patented dual ball-bearing center section results in higher durability and longer turbo life

Oil inlet fitting features a built in restrictor for worry-free operation

High flow compressor wheels move air quickly and powerfully

Maximum recommended boost is 40 psi

Stage 1 & 2 upgrades available (Stage 3 coming soon)

Available through our master distributor and performance distributor network.

It looks like the Stage 1 would easily replace a HX40, where a stage 2 would run like a HTB2, and the stage 3 would run like a PS66... including the nasty surge!!!

Intresting, what can be expected from a ball bearing turbo? Lag?

I do not know what turbo you are currently running, but the boost threshold of this turbo should be no more than 200 RPM higher than a HX35.

The GT37 turbine has a major diameter of 72. 5mm and a trim of 84

A HX40 has a turbine major diameter of 76mm and a trim of 79.

Above the boost threshold, rotor mass and exhaust turbine housing size is the key factor with spool. The HX40 turbine is larger and thus will accelerate slower at the same fueling level. Add the extra mass of the larger available compressor wheels... this also slows down the turbo. Ball bearings will help too, but not as much as you might think. Ball bearings will not affect the lowest RPM the turbo will make boost (boost threshold) they only lower drag on the rotor, and thus make it more responsive to throttle input (spool)
