I was driving down the road when I heard a loud bang and the truck pulled hard to the left, upon getting the truck off the road I found the lower ball joint on the left side had pulled apart. Over the next 3 weeks I spent 11 days working on the truck to replace the 2wd front end with a fully rebuilt Dana 60. The transfer case will get installed this winter.

Wow!!! What a failure. Good thing it didn't pull you over into oncoming traffic! That's the way to do it... rebuild it bigger and better!

Keep the pics coming.

Unfortunately, that's really a common failure I've seen several times... . That is, however, the absolute best repair job I've ever seen!!! :D

Did you replace the crossmember as well?

Yes the cross member, springs, and spring hangers, shock mounts, are from a 89 ctd W-250. the axle is a junk yard part with wheel hubs that came from another TDR member and every thing else is brand new.

Nice job! Now all you need is a date with the dead blow hammer to straighten out the fender and running board and youll be good to go :D

I was only about 30 miles from home but because it was an "over size truck" it sill coast over 200 to get hauled in.

When I saw the post I said to myself... That's gotta be a "D" with a BJ fail, but now it's a "W"... Nice job! When I had my '92 I put the (IIRC) Skyjacker diesel specific front springs in... HUGE difference!

It handles real nice it has a little more body roll to it from not having the front anti sway bar on it any more, im looking in to get one for it. And yes I did get the compass in it, if you look back a page or two there are pics of it under "over head compass and temp" on page 3.
