I was planning on changing my upper and lower ball joints and was assured by my local parts store that the ball joint press they sold me was the correct one

it's a OTC 7249 3-in-1 press.

i dont think that this press will work. the C clamp is too small

any suggestions on where i can get a press that will work ?

need my truck for work on monday but looks like i will be walking to work. #@$%!

If you are pressing out the old ball joints, just cut them with a torch. Then the parts can be easily pressed or driven out. The old joints are junk anyway.

Before cutting, rip out the seals and clean out all the grease.

I borrowed (you buy, use, and return for refund-- It's how they do their loaner program) a kit form Advance Auto that had a bunch of adapters for a lot of different vehicles. It worked great. Have one of those closeby? Maybe an Autozone? They loan tools too.

I did get them changed with the OTC kit. BUT i did have to make other adapters in order to get it to work. OTC also has a MUCH larger press that would have done a much better job had i had it at the time. it's just the C-clamp with out any adapters.

thank you to all who posted
