I need your suggestions once again!

A friend has an '01 Ram 2500 4X4 CDT with 40K miles and front end ball joint problems. His mechanic told him he is unable to retrofit zerk fittings due to the front end configuration. I suggested changing the ball joints. That's where you come in... can you suggest the best replacement ball joint along with any suggestions that would help?

Thanks for your help!

(I know, I'm working on getting him to join the TDR) :D

Here is a link to Ingle. They sell THE ONLY replacement adjustable ball joint for the new model 4x4's that i am aware of. The stealer is the only other source for them and they don't sell just the ball joints, the control arms must be replaced as a whole unit (arm, bushings, ball joint).

I used greasable MOOGs from NAPA. Don't know if there is a difference between my 98 and your 2001, they are both Dana 60's.

You can get the ball joints only from the dealer. I helped a guy a while back with his. The newer trucks have the joints in the axle housing instead of the steering knuckle. Jeff

They sure don't make it easy!

Thanks Guys,

I'll pass this along. DC is working overtime making sure us owners have a difficult time trying to maintain our trucks on our own!

My left lower ball joint went (luckily) before my warrantee ran out.

They replaced the lower control arm... and the new ball joint went again. The second time around I made a big fuss... they installed zerk fittings!:D

But I can see the 4X4 is another beast all together.

Man I dunno If I am a fan of the adjustable ones (Seems like more moving parts to fail)

Back in the day Fleet Tough (Moog)? Was the strong stuff for any heavy duty aplication. I have to do mine and being the rig has 35,000 miles on it I don't want to do this every 30K.
