I'm having trouble finding one of these to replace the upper ball joint on my 2wd truck. Most places I've talked to don't have it, and the only place I found that normally stocks it is on back order. Does anyone have suggestions as to where else I can find this thing? My ball joint is not going to last much longer.

Snap on carrys them as well as a couple other online tool places that excape me at the minute. I'll try to look at mine tonight to get the manufacturor and number. I recently picked mine up off ebay for about $20.

Try a NAPA or Carquest store. The bigger ones carry them or can get them in a day or two. Are you in 1/2T gasser country like I am? I've noticed in parts of the south (not just here), you are two weeks from anywhere if they dont stock it, just like in that movie "O Borther, where art thou?"

If you cant find one, PM me.

I am too cheap and too far away from a parts store order one, so when I did it I took a piece of 2"X 2" steel tubing about three inches long. The I welded 1/8" flat bar on two sides. Then I welded 1/4" flatbar on all four sides thus making a 1 1/8" square. A little grinding so it would clear the knuckle as it turned and it worked fine. The whole welding/ fabrication was under an hour. Then I turned it with a big 24" cresent wrench. Hope this helos Todd

I found one! There was an 'Auto Value' store in downtown Dundee, MI that had one. Expensive socket - $47! The ball joint was tough to get out, but the new one went in easier, and the truck drives a lot better now. The old one was really loose - you could move the top of the tire in and out more than 1 1/2"

When we did my friend's truck, the lower literally fell apart when we pulled it out. The ball section pulled out and the part between the ball and the cup was broken in 3 pieces and fell out on the floor.
