Finally had to replace my ball joints this past weekend and let me tell ya, everything came apart so easy until it came time to remove the ball joints themselves. My poor truck isn't even 2 years old yet and she's already at 205k miles but I guess since my ball joints lasted that long I should be greatful. My front tires started wearing (cupping) horribly and the alignment man at the local body shop checked it three times and said it couldn't be aligned any better than it already was. He said to replace the factory shocks, which I was already going to purchase new ones anyhow, and come back and he would check it again. Seems like after I installed the new shocks the tire wear compounded. He said the alignment was still good but I knew there was some movement from the ball joints. So, off to NAPA I went and ordered some new joints... Part #260-1580 (upper) $111. 49

Part #260-1579 (lower) $88. 99

Tear down time was about 30 minutes. Removal/installation of joints, about 3hrs, with a homemade puller I devised with pipe, two 1/2" plate straps and 2 all-threads, oh, and don't forget to use the 'ol impact wrench, sure is alot easier.

The old bottom joint wasn't that bad but the upper joint was shot all to heck. I guess next paycheck I'll purchase and do the passenger side :{
