I replaced the lower ball joints yesterday on my 2wd '95 yesterday. We removing the left side, we removed the C-clip and pounded out the ball joint. When it came time to do the right side, it had be welded in a couple of spots. We we installed both sides without welding. Are they supposed to be welded? Why would one side be and not the other? Also, I plan to do the uppers at some point in the future (they did not need it now), will those need welding also?

Thanks,

Craig

They shouldn't need to be welded unless the bore is worn, then it should be replaced not welded. The uppers should last at least twice as long as the lowers.

Thanks for the reply, the bores were not worn, but I just found it odd that it had been welded straight from the factory and only on one side. I am the original owner and this is the first time for ball joints.
