I'm about to do ball joints on my '04 3500 4x4. I've about decided with the funds at hand, I'm going to go with the Spicer but am still teetering on the Moogs. It has a leveling kit up front with stock size tires (no plans to go bigger, 6 tires are expensive enough!) so there is not any added stress on the front end. I know about the hipe with the Carli's and the Dynatrac's but they're of the question for the price.

With the Spicer's, where can I get those. I would like to get them at an auto parts store here in Oklahoma so I can return them easily if need be. I have heard that the Napa store brand is Spicer.

Any feedback would be great!

Try Napa. I just did mine. The Napa guy said the ones I bought were either made by Spicer or Dana. About a month later, no issues.

I have just installed the Dana/Spicer AKA "Napa Package", in my 06 DRW and in my brothers 04 DRW they are good quality and you can get to the zerk. If you are doing it yourself you will have to have a joint press I use the Astro 7865 press it works great, you can also use it on your U-joints and I would replace those while I was that deep. Precision 464 is the way to go their.

What do you think about Moog? As good as the Spicers? Reason I ask is because I was in there a couple of months ago to replace a bad u joint on the drivers side and wound up replcing the hub bearing and the top ball joint also because they were both in poor shape. The ball joint I biught was a Moog because I was already at O'Rielly's buying all of the other parts. I've heard a lot of back and forth about the Moog's, just wanted to know if anyone has racked up some miles on a set before I decide which ones i want to use.

I put 55k on upper and lower moogs , shot all to hell! Replaced uppers w/ carli's and new moog lowers( waiting on carli to release lowers) 20 k later and pass. side lower already has play,so id stay away from moog! Moog = junk!

I'am on my second set of moog's. The first ones were adjustable, and you could hardly keep the truck on the road. My mechanic could not adust them to make things right so they replaced them at there expense with standard Moog's with zerks.

The truck still does not handle as well as it did with the DC originals.

When I put new tires on next summer I'am giving serious thought to changing out the ball joints for the 5th time and hopefully the last.

So to make a long story short I wouldn't bother with the Moog's.

What kind of money are the Carli's worth anyways. ?

think i might try them too, my truck eats ball joints even when its broke down, think my press is getting worn out lol:-laf

Waiting on Carli to come out with the lowers mid month January. $550-600 a set for the Carli units, lowers or uppers. Hopefully they are what they are cracked up to be !!

I planb on getting the Carli uppers and lowers. NO brainer, never have to mess with them again from what I've heard. By the time you buy a couple sets of other brands, you will have paid as much as or more than just going to the Carli set. I want to save on my labor. Bothe the uppers and lowers are on Carli's site now.

Ordered Carli uppers today. Jesse at Carli said 30 to 45 days on lowers. Cant wait, sick of throwing money at this front end. 20,000 on timken joints and they are shot already. plan on putting a hub conversion when i do the joints. hopefully that will be the end of wasted time and money
