Forgive my ignorance in advance, I've tried figuring this out using the search and an 03 factory service manual but wanted an expert explanation.
Are the balljoint problems people are having related to 4wd trucks only? It seems that the majority of people having trouble are 4wd owners, but I wanted to know if the 2wd trucks are immune or just have less problems. I understand the difference between the solid-axle/link front suspension and the IFS, but the FSM still describes balljoints in the IFS system. Are they just not as prone to failure?
4wd is more of a "want" than a "need" for me and if I can steer clear of some potential maintenance headaches by going 2wd that just might sway me.
Thanks for any input.
