I have 27k on my truck and was going to change my transmission fluid. Which is getting brown. And I am getting some shuttering. So I figured that I should adjust the band while I am in there. What are the settings for them?

Call Bill K.

He will give you the best advice for your transmission and your set up. I highly recommend his upgrades. It will act like a different transmission.

It's not your bands it's your transmission

The factory untouched transmission is marginal in handeling the extra power of the EZ. For some it works fine, for some it shudders the first day you install the EZ and for others it works fine for a while and then starts shuddering(this sounds like your case).

I installed an EZ and the first day it started shuddering so I removed and sold it until I could come up with the money for a DTT valve body.

There have been several threads on this and I thik Bill will tell you that there is no need to adjust the bands in these trannies. So its not your bands, it your transmission.

All you need is a DTT valve body (~ $375):

Forgot to mention.....

When I first installed my EZ I turned up the line pressure on the stock valve body. Held gear a little longer and shifted a little firmer. Might want to try that.

I got to tell you though there is nothing like the DTT stuff for these transmission's. What a world of difference. If at all possible that's the way I would go.

I'll second that. How do you turn up the pressure. Someone with the know how please post. I am also experiencing the shudder and would very much like to get rid of it until I can afford some of Bill K. 's stuff----at least a valve body... ... ... ... ... .

Pressure adjustments used to be listed on the DTT website

The website is being updated

Call and talk to Stefan and he will email you the procedure

or email -- email address removed -- and request the procedure document

Ditto.........

Call DTT. I saw it on their web site and then called Bill to find out how much. You have to drain the pan and there is an adjustment screw on the front/drivers side of the valve body. Can't remember how many pounds of pressure per turn. Call the pro's for advice.

I did call bill and he gave me all the settings fot the vb. I had just forgot to ask about the bands. I guess I wil can him again just hated to bother him. He is the most helpfull guy.

That statement is so true about Bill. If you have the pan off to change the fluid, it is wise to check the bands, and if need be, up the line pressure. 3psi per turn.

Not your bands

The shuddering you are feeling is the clutch in your converter trying to lock up, bumping up your line pressure will help a little bit, but you should think about a new valve (upgraded) body, or shift kit. But eventually you will need a converter also, I would get in touch will bill K. @ DTT

Willing to HELP!!!

If you come near Fl, I can install them both for you, or anyone else out there that lacks either the desire or skill to do this kind of work. I am getting ready to retire from the Military, and am thinking about working on these trucks a whole lot more.

Bill told me that the sudder I feel is mainly becouse my trany fluid is broke down. He made it sound like that was the main problem. I was just going to adjust the bands becouse I was there with the pan off. I will call Bill tomarrow for more info. I want to also get his vb but I was hoping to wait a little while longer. Changing the tc just doesnt fire me up at all thought.

Bill is the Man, (EF HUTTON)

If bill said it was probably because your fluid was getting old I would definately listen to him, he has a lot of experience with these trannys. I thought you had more upgrades than you actually had. The best thing for you to do is the cheapest and easiest first. Change your fluid and adjust your bands while your pan is off.

Also if you havent bumped up your line pressure yet you might want to go ahead and do that also, just remember (1 Turn = 3 PSI).

Increasing the line pressure will give you firmer shifts and encrease the life of the clutches since they will engage quicker, with less slippage. I hope every thing works out on the least expensive side. Good Luck:) :) :)

I will probly add dd2 or dd3's and change to a pe comp and possibly a 4 inch pipe. But that is as far as I will go. I have to drive this thing 40 to 50 k a year so I cant aford to make a weekend race car out of it. Hopefully reliablity to match that power is where I am headed. I am also hoping to not nrrd a tc to be there.
