I was wondering if anyone has used the aftermarket banjo bolts with the larger fuel port that Genos sells. Is there a noticeable difference in fuel pressure. Truck is stock now, but I am looking to add 275 injectors and a carter pusher pump. Just installed a new lift pump 16-17psi at idle, 13psi while cruising at 2000 rpm. thanks for any input.

I run the stock lift pump with mach 2. 4's edm's and marco's ecm and have no problem with fuel pressure.

Get the sticks first and save the extra cash to start as long as you have a fuel pressure gauge.

The 275's are a very mild upgrade

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - here's mine... ;)

IF you add a pusher pump, you will easily have FAR more flow and PSI than the setup you want to end up with will EVER need - NOR are you likely to see ANY difference in engine performance at moderate power levels due to larger lines or fittings. With the stuff in my sig, and especially with a VERY restrictive sub-micronic fuel filter, I cannot pull less than 14 PSI under the HEAVIEST loads and grades with the Comp on 5x5...

The VP-44 will NOT flow more than about 45 GPH, no matter HOW big your lines or fittings are!

Geno's should have it in stock, If Not I have a spare here for cost plus shipping. Its 1/8" npt to gauge mounting

hope this helps

They made absolutely NO difference in my truck. I should have went with the Wildcat Maxflow system. Now maybe the RASP system... ... ... ... ..... hmmmm... Phil

I have the larger fittings on my truck. I run 16-18 psi at idle, 14-15 cruising and I haven't been able to get it under 12 at W. O. T. , so my opinion would be they do indeed help.

Thanks for your replies. I thought I might try the 3 Bolts and 2 tapped kit. That way I can locate the pressure guage and still keep that special test valve on the filter canister. I am assuming that the schrader valve is pipe thread so I can reinstall it into the new tapped banjo bolt. But we all know what happens when we assume, does anybody know for sure.

The factory Schrader valve/port's are not pipe thread. You can get 1/8" pipe thread Schrader valves from Wildcat Diesel.

I also installed the Genos banjo bolts, I am running 14 PSI idle, 9-10 psi 2000 rpm.

When I installed the bolts, i torqued them to factory specs and noticed that the drilled holes in the shank didn't line up with the fuel outlet of the fitting. I took it out for a test drive and thought it felt sluggish. Could have been a mind over matter thing, but it just seemed better to me to line up the fuel fittings outlet with one of the holes of the shank so the fuel didn't have to find it's way in. So I tightened it a little more until the holes lined up.

installed them when i did my mods and replaced the lift pump. pump is in stock position and idle psi is15+... while pulling a load up grade its never been below 12.

Install the tapped banjo on the output of the fuel filter(bottom) so you can retain the schrader port on the inlet of the vp44. I installed mine in both locations and when installed on the vp44, there are too many spikes through the gauge. Hope this helps.

my take,

All you guy talk about the great fp you have, 15 psi, 16psi etc. Well, at 14 psi the lp check valve opens. Now guess what is probably the greatest failure on lp's. The higher the output of the lp the more the check valve opens, my bet the higher the incidence of failure of the check valve becomes.

$. 10 check valve, $135 lp, $1200 VP

Better fuel volume (up to a point) through whatever method you use I think does help stabilize the fuel system.

Can someone explain where the 5th banjo bolt goes? I replaced the 2 under the filter housing, the one on the filter housing, and the one leading on the injection pump from the filter housing (which had a schrader valve on it). For the last fitting, I took the one off the injection pump which was right next to the other fitting and it had soem kind of check ball in it, so I did not reeplace that one. So I am left with one fitting that I an unsure of. Where does this one go? Thanks for any help.

I put 8an fittings and lines through out... and have notice the fuel pressure drop when romping on it is much smoother and not as great... I attribute this to the greater volume and capacity from the larger lines. I'm 14 psi at idle and can drop it to 11 at WOT.

On your 2001. 5 Ram there are banjo fittings at the inlet and outlet of the transfer pump, the inlet and outlet of the water separator/fuel filter, and the inlet of the VP44. There is a sixth banjo fitting (which you found) at the overflow valve of the VP44.

Don't know if they helped the power or not, but it did give me a port for my gauge, pressure is 15 at idle and 10-11 towing at 75 MPH. And I have the gauge "post filter" in the banjo that feeds the VP-44. The way I see it, it can't hurt anything!!
