i've herd that we should do something about the banjo fittings of the injector pumps... what is the best solution ? is just adding something like a fass enough ?

Fass

While I don't have any 1st hand experience with the FASS, going to the FASS will do nothing about the restriction of the OEM banjo bolts. I believe there are (5) Banjo bolts on our trucks. Inlet & Outlet to the lift pump, inlet & outlet to the fuel filter, & then into the VP44.

There is a vendor that I used that replaces the OEM lines & fittings with 1\2" thus eliminating the restrictive banjos & weenie lines. Here's a link if your interested.

High flow banjo's are for use with the stock lift pump/filter, the FASS bypasses all that and hooks right up to the injection pump. Geno's has the high-flow banjo's, I figure they couldn't hurt anything!!

I tried the "High Flow Banjos" & all I saw was reduced LP pressures. Save your money & upgrade the lines like I did or buy a FASS which upgrades the lines as well. My bad... . I forgot the FASS upgrades the lines & bypasses the fuel heater.

I've been really happy with what I did to my truck for a fraction of the cost of a FASS but I am still utilizing the stock LP. When it goes again however it will be much easier to change & hopefully I will get a little longer life out of it since it's pushing fuel now instead of pulling fuel. Time will tell.

Pressures are lower due to less restriction, I get 15 psi with the hi-flow banjo's. But yes, the stock fuel lines suck. And yes, the FASS eliminates all the stock filter and L/P, and you lose the stock fuel heater. You can pipe hot water to the FASS I think, but I don't know for sure.

I'm a fan of using the stock system but upgrading the lines. At 460hp, I can't pull the fuel pressure below 10 psi on a bad day, typically not below 12-11 psi though. I've kept the stock pump and filter, so I can get replacements pretty much anywhere, and I haven't lost the electric fuel heater. And it only costs about $150 for a complete kit.

I wasn't too excited about replacing an electric pump with an electric pump, especially for the price. If I upgrade (which I won't since my setup works well) I'd go with the RASP for the sake of redundancy. But I can buy a whole bunch of lift pumps for that price.

My truck is on its 3rd lift pump. With 140,000 miles. Iv replaced it once since I got the truck 6 months ago. It started leaking out of the bottom. I don’t know if that can be fixed but I just replaced it. I get 15lbs at I At idle but it drops to like 6 or 7 at WOT…I don’t know if having the 2nd tank in the bed of my truck somehow affects it. I really don’t want to keep changing these damn things. I change my fuel filter every other oil change. Does anyone know if the BD pusher pump kit comes with new banjo fittings or something to replace them? That’s the kit that my local diesel performance shop caries. Does anyone run this kit and how do you like it?

I too would like to know if anyone has some experience with the BD pump kit. I like the idea of having two pumps instead of one. How about it fuel Gurus... . what's your opinion on the BD?

One thing that tends to go unmentioned is I think you would get more life out of the stock lift pump IF you mount it off engine as I did in my gallery pics. The vulcan kit would be OK for an upgrade but the barbs are straight out and I like the clean look of the 90 degree bends of the -an6 fittings. Soon I will be on E-bay with four 12mm x 1. 5/-6AN straight steel fittings and one with a 3/8ths barb (to truck SS feed line). all supplied with Cummins O-ring washers. I might add the frame bracket also for the LP. IMO the -AN6 with straight fittings are the way to go. 14 idle, 13 criusin out to 75mph and 10. 5 WOT from the stock pump. 20. 2 hiway mpg empty/auto. holding 75 to 85 mph. Im happy :D

wow that is pretty good i dont think i ever get over 15 or 16 mpg and like 10mpg in town but im not for sure because my speedometer is off due to the 35's

I've tried them also.

Save your money and upgrade the lines and fittings to 6an or 8an fittings. Can't pull my pressure down below 10 psi with the lift pump in to factory location. With the bigger banjos I could pull the pressure down to 5-6 psi with the same lift pump I have now. Good luck, Phil

Your right, I would rather have the 90 degree fittings but this thing flows GREAT! I idle at 16. 5 PSI & cruise at 16+PSI at 65 mph. With my EZ & 275's I don't think I've seen lower than 14 PSI with the pedal to the mat.

Any changes to the lines & fittings is a definate improvement over just changing out the banjos.
