Thought you may be interested in hearing what I just heard. I just called Banks & asked about their 14cm2 housing & EGT. I asked what the maximum EGT readings are if measured before & after the turbo. The answer was an uncertain 1350 before & 1050 to 1100 after. No allotment for boost I asked for comparison data, maybe graphs, of EGT differences between the 12cm2 & 14cm2. None available. I asked to talk to engineering to explore this a little further. Engineering doesn't take calls. Wow, what an answer!!!

wow forest what service ... i guess the attitude is ... lok buddy just buy our stuff and don't ask questions , i'm just a salesman without answers, i need my commision to feed my family ... oops did i say that??? #ad

DEJAVU!!! I had problems with my Banks kit and cust/serv didn't have a clue. I bugged them until they let me talk to an engineer. He didn't know either, but after a month of pestering him, he sent me a different plate and it worked great. It turned out the first plate was for another application. They're really on the ball - NOT.

Hey guys, the 16 is where it's at. #ad
The 14 is a weak patch for a performance housing! If you don't like the smoke adjust the aneroid... ...
I wouldn't put a 180hp. injector in a 160's place and call it a real "upgrade". I would consider at least a 230 to get the job done.
Why beat around the bush??????

No high tech fuel system needed. Just good old fashioned diesel power!!

Geeez guys, I'm a little nervois now to say anything since I have a Banks Stinger-Plus kit. Without trying to stir the pot, I am posting my bfore-the-turbo readings of no higher than 1100F. Banks has you read your boost from the compressor side of the turbo, and I get about 34PSI.

I must say I have been very pleased with my Banks experience. The only problem I have had is sometimes, totally out of the blue, the motor stumbles and/or surges. It happens in a split second and then goes away for a while. The forceful jerking from what feels like an instaneous application of "off ignition" and/or "full throttle" scares the **** out of you. I suspect it is the crappy Scotch-Lock connector they give you to connect their brain box to the pump.

MarcZ - Have you got a CAT on yours? 1100 pre isn't bad for that output rating. Also, are you towing? I'm wondering if the 1100 is solo or the highest towing, OD & long grade, etc. Thanks #ad
Oh, I've got no CAT, 4" cat back, TST 605 & K&N & the max I get is 32psi.

MichaelT - Thats the 1st time I've seen reference made to rwhp & boost. Is there a rule of thumb or formula here?

On the "Stumble" problem -- check the TSB's. Mine did the same and the TSB came out on Monday in nov 15th(?). Had mine in on the 12th for it and couldnt find prob. The 22nd had the TSB done and no more prob w/stumble. Check you eng ser# - mine was about 1k below the cut. Need the TSB - check my post around the nov date.

Mine did the surging when towing. Any ripple in the road would start it and the only way to stop it was to hit the clutch. Dodge warrantied it by changing crankarms and springs on the pump.
If anyone is interested, I think I have the paperwork yet that may have the TSB# on it.

The rule of thumb is 10 hp per psi boost. This rule fails when the turbine housing is too small and/or is wastegated, or too big. For the B engines, it is probably closest for most power levels with the 16 cm2 housing. The 18. 5 is OK with the higher hp Rams. A couple examples might be:

250 hp gives 30 psi with the 12 housing wastegated, or about 34-36 psi with the wastegate line off. It may give about 25 psi with the 16. At 280-300 hp, the 16 should give about 28-30 psi. At 380 hp, the 16 may give 38+ psi and the 18. 5 will give about 38. At 450 or so hp, the Superturbo (HX40) with 18. 5 and 4" exit will give about 46 psi unless the wastegate opens at lower boost. The numbers are rear wheel hp, on the Dynojet, and also happen to correspond pretty well to the TST advertised hp ratings for their Power Kits. Sorry, I can't give similar data on other companies' plates as I haven't had the opportunity to dyno them.
