I noticed that the butterfly shaft bushing is leak exhaust pressure on my 3 year old Banks 4" turbo mounted exhaust brake. Anyone else seen this issue. Only have around 25K miles on it. SNOKING

i have a brand new pac (turbo mount elbow type tho) and it seeps a little soot by that bushing

how much is it leaking?

don

ps - i have a brand new bd 4" brake sitting here and it has almost 1/8" of slop at that bushing! maybe if they make em tight enough to seal perfectly the shaft will seize up from the soot?

Well, I am on a RV trip in Colorado and was in the middle of no where at Glendo SP in Wy, so did not dig into it that much. I will check on things again today. I have a Larry-B turbo heat shield, so I have to remove that to see things.

Was just thinking that maybe being at higher altitude is making it sound different in the warmup mode in the morning. That is the first thing that I noticed. I hold a piece of paper towel near the flange and connection to look for leaks. Towel flaps around if it is near a leak.

I don't think the shaft/bushing will leak much since it is on the down stream side of the exhaust brake butterfly.

Maybe the difference in sound has something to do with low vacuum output at high elevations. Maybe the brake is not closing completely, sometimes, due to this?
