I'll be getting my 3500 03 dually soon and I wanted to know what company you guys recommend for aftermarket cool air intake, exaust, and chip. From what I see Banks has a really nice set up for exaust, but the chip doesn't look like a plug in and set kind, which I want. Bullydog has a nice cool air intake, and easy chip upgrade, but is it better than banks. And I want a loud exaust Babby! So, Suggestions PLEASE!

if your lookin for a mild power upgrade, i would look at the edge EZ, plug in and go. if you want alot of power i would look into the TST powermax cr chip. this is not a plug in chip so to speak, and it can be a very aggressive chip on power levels over 5X5, stock turbos dont last too long if higher leves are used frequently, and transmission and airflow upgrades will be needed to run the higher levels... for exhaust banks makes a nice system but is a bit $$$. i had thier system on my 97' and it was good, but if i had to do it over again i would have found a cheaper system made of stainless steel. some other systems to check are rip rook's 4", the MBRP system is very nice as well. if you want a loud exhaust, lose the muffler and straight pipe your truck. for the air filter, i would suggest looking into a AFE stage II kit for your truck with the progaurd 7 filter. flows more air, yet provides better filtration over other cotton gauze air filters. good luck with your new truck and happy bombing!

For up to 100hp - and no future stacking needed - I vote for the Quadzilla 100hp Xzillaraider

BUT for 100+++ hp and up with future stacking, I vote get the EZ, and then get the TST later when the BOMB Bug bites harder

I vote for the Xzillaraider, too. It's a sweet box that actually makes the power they claim, unlike the Six-Gun. It only plugs in in three spots. Quick install.

The Banks exhaust is sweet. No complaints with mine. The MBRP duals sound great too.

As far as an intake, get the AFE with the PG7 filter. For a little more noise, get the torque tube.

I went for the crazy HP, So I went TST with EZ stacked

And the stock turbo, which is why I left about 50 hp (i bet) in the air in the form of a cloud

I would run the Xzillaraider if you want to stop at about 200hp extra (140 race, plus some DD3's) -- But for 500-600 total HP, you will need some EDMs, TST, and some pressure and a WHOLE lotta turbo!

I have the Bully Dog downloader with the outlook monitor. I am very happy. Set on the 90 hp setting it runs great egt temps not bad pulling moderate loads, but the outlook monitor will defuel if they get to high. Under $600. for both. Customer service from Bully Dog is great.

I have the Powerpup, also. It's a good box. Been towing, (8000-10000lbs), a lot the past few days on the 90 hp setting, and EGT's have stayed under 1050, even up hill in OD at 60+mph. I was pretty impressed. Good cutomer service, too.

For a great sounding exhaust try here . Jessie is a friend of mine and the kits he sells sound awesome. I had just the glasspack on mine for a while but I tow too much so the muffler went back on, minus a few torch holes. A die-hard Ford guy even gave me a compliment on the sound with the glasspack. It's a full 4" hole straight through the glasspack, sounds better than straight, not near as harsh but still very loud. Had one of those kits on my '01 and absolutely loved it. It's a great sound that I can't praise enough. I'm just not able to put up with the drone when towing 25K all day long. When my patched back together factory system falls off, his is the one I'll be going with. 5" kits are also available.

EDIT: Just went and checked the site I linked to. There's nothing on it about the diesel kits, but he does indeed sell them. PM me if you want more info.

Almost forgot to answer some other ???'s. BD X-intake (not bullydog). Uses AFE PG7 filter for nowheres near the cost of AFE's kit. "Flow adapter" gets rid of baffles, but is a waste of money. Just use a piece of 5" exhaust pipe from your local big rig shop. Which chip--Juice w/atitude gets my vote 'cause they got my money.

Donn,

What are the other HP settings? Can you change on the fly? Very good price on those, who from?

The other settings with the downloader are:

Stock

Tow 50-70 hp

Performance 90 hp

Extreme 130 hp

I purchased mine from http://extremedieselperformance.net/

I looked it up and I paid $672. total with freight.

You can't change it from the cab unless you get the Otlook Moniter (which is included at the ablve price). It doesn't change the hp but it will defuel the truck. I havn't ran mine on any other setting, because I know the transmission will not hold any more than the 90 hp and if I don't try the extreme I will be ok. But knowing me if I try it I will want to keep it on that setting, and I don't want the problems
