Banks Exhaust

Hello all!Been lurking around for awhile and let me tell you theres a lot of good info here.



The reason for this post is Id like to share an experience I had thisa morning with a rep from Banks. I called to confirm a part# for an exhaust for my 04 dually. The rep mentioned that I can buy direct from Banks. I told him he probably couldnt beat the price I found on the internet. He began to laugh and said your buying it from !@#$%$%^%^ and we will not honor any warranty problems!He didnt like the fact that the price was so low!!he proceeded to tell me things that a company shouldnt tell a consumer!Oh well,there not getting any money from me!!!!

I am not surprised. I talked with a Banks sales rep a over a year ago now. I was NOT pleased in my dealings with them. I still get sales calls, junk mail, and spam from them.



I would suggest looking at HOG or DPP for exhaust.

Go with the HOG Performance Exhaust! My wife bought it for me for Christmas. Its 4" stainless steel throughout. Even the clamps are ss. This thing fit like a glove. You get your choice of a 5-1/2 or 6" diameter tip by about 24" long. Sounds awesome. Total price with shipping was $603.

Always had good results with Banks. Never had them do THAT. I guess its who you catch on the phone. They knocked a $100 bucks off my system and handled shipping with just a little squeak from me. I bought direct.

The HOG Performance Muffler is available at http://www.dieseltrans.com or call 1-866-504-4002 and ask for Stefan. The price was $550 plus shipping. I think you may have to go to the HOG Performance website however to view pics of the muffler. Tell Stefan you are a TDR member and want the TDR price.



I learned about the HOG Muffler through a previous post on the TDR website and glad I did.

KSchrader do you have this type of exhaust? I just talked to Stefan and it sounds like a good deal. I would just like to hear from some that have got this exhaust.

I have this exhaust and I like it. You have a choice of three different mufflers: -Augmentor (quietest) -Standard -and a louder one which I don't know the name of. I chose the Standard with a 6" tip. I like the sound... . deep growl and none of that dreaded drone. I haven't towed with it yet though. If I had to do it over again, I would likely get the augmentor just to make it more civilized. HOG told me over the phone that the Augmentor is actually more quiet than the stock. I've never heard the augmentor for myself thoughl.

thats surpriseing. the banks guys will usally match or even beat any legit price. oh well guess he was having a bad day.

I am sorry the Banks rep. did that. The Banks exhaust for the new Cummins is very good and even replaces the cast elbow on the turbo. Give me a call and I let you know what we can do with a Banks or Silverline system and you will have a life time warranty on either one.

Ditto what StephenThomas said. I have the same setup- Standard with 6" tip. It has a nice deep growl. I reversed the muffler to make it a little louder. I have an automatic transmission and the only time it gets a little loud is when the truck is in third gear and I am doing about 2000rpms. After that it shifts and you really dont hear it. I drive down the highway about 65mph and you barely hear it.



I think the Augmentor muffler is more quiet, but you pay additional money for it.



I took some pics of the stock exhaust next to the HOG and will try to download them tomorrow.

At the time I bought my HOG (less than a month ago) the rep told me I could have my choice of mufflers at no cost difference. They may have been running a special at that time though.

What I ended up doing was purchasing the banks kit from the online vendor for almost $200. 00 off msrp. I also recieved an email from a rep at Banks apoligizing for the misunderstanding I had with the salesman. It was a nice gesture on his part but I dont know if i would but any other products from Banks. Gotta go ,client just walked in!
