I remember that prototype PeterT! In fact, when The PowerShop received their very first High-Ram, I thought that was what was going to be in the box! We were surprised to see the casting in its current (production) configuration.
Blair, you're right...
it took many copper plating bathes and subsequent polishings to get the (sand) casting smoothe enough to nickel (again) and chrome plate it. If memory serves, it took at least three copper bathes and two nickel bathes (one at first to determine any flaws I may have missed... i. e. , any flats spots etc. ), and two, just prior to the chrome bath. Custom but well worth the expense (IMO)!
