BHAF vs stock air filter

Are any of you running this exhaust with an HX40 and downpipe. I have got MAJOR alignment problems with this thing and I was wondering if any of you had the same problem. I'm scheduled to have my transmission done Monday and I neen to get this done ASAP. I've cut it back and tryed flex pipe but the offset is so severe that I can't make it fit. I know you aren't supposed to bend this stuff before you use it but I'm just gonna have to cut the downpipe half way up and do it to make it work so I can drive in the meantime. I don't want to run this way for long and I want to do it right so if there is anyone out there that got a downpipe that fit their 4" BANKS system please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

I installed the HX-40 and pipe I got from Piers and my Banks all at once. The system is for the later 2nd gen trucks so it should be the same as yours.

To make it work I installed the later tail pipe bracket (from Dodge) and used the band clamp style of pipe clamps. (Stainless steel and cheap at NAPA) I did not use the front Banks hanger that goes to the frame bracket. The bracket that goes to the trans crossmember did work fine but I'm guessing that the pipe is rotated a little different to align the round bar with the rubber bushing in the mount.

As I recall it's hanging by the crossmenber mount, the 2 hangers at the muffler and the tailpipe hanger.

With the band clamps and all the overlap at the down pipe, I thought the assembly was plenty stiff so I never did anything with the front frame bracket.

Hope this helps.

Worked for me

I have the same set-up you are talking about on my 2002 LB. I had the monster exhaust first hooked up to my HY35. Later I got my PDR HX-40.

I had very little problems hooking up either one. The welded hangers on the exhaust matched up well. It took very little adjusting (slide all joints together before tightening anything). The straight going to the downpipe could have been about 1 1/2" longer would have made this easier, but it was not a real problem.
