Banks Muffler

I've got a 93. 5 with a Banks powerpack on her. I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced the banks muffler with anything other than another banks. The one I've got is really quiet and I wonder if its restricting flow

I have the banks muffler and tailpipe on mine and also noticed it is pretty quiet,just slightly louder than stock. I was concerned how well it flowed also so i called banks. They said it flowed much more than stock but i'm sure a straight-thru design would flow better. It can be eliminated easy with a adapter pipe if you can stand the noise.

Had the Banks exhaust on mine since I bought the truck new in 1993 (first mod). Took the muffler off 2 years ago to see if there was any restriction. Gained 4 pounds of boost, but hated the straight pipe exhaust tone. Added a Dynomax 3 1/2" muffler and modified ths pipes to fit, same boost as open without the raspy tone.

Four pounds gained! Maybe I should try taking mine off.

So how much boost are you making?

I took my Banks muffler off and put a striaght pipe on it and got the turbo lag back so I put the Banks back on .

With my current setup I am getting 32lbs boost, but my EGT's are a little high. My winter plans are better turbo and bigger exhaust/stacks.
