Well, the exhaust is rusting out on my 02', so I'm going to replace it with a 4" SS. I'm thinking of replacing the turbow elbow too while I'm at it, if its worth it. Is anyone using the Banks Power Elbow? Is it worth it?

I did a search on previous treads, but didn't find anything.

Is a banks "power elbow" a 4" downpipe, or is it the boost elbow?? If its the downpipe, yeah you may as well do a 4" dp when you do the whole 4" exhaust.

If its the "boost elbow", then the same basic thing from TST is cheaper.

It's neither. The power elbow is a 4" version of the cast elbow on the exhaust side of the turbo that the downpipe bolts to. So eventhough you have a true 4" downpipe, it still has to attach to the stock 3" port on the turbo.

The Banks power elbow is a piece that replaces that cast iron elbow that the downpipe bolts to. It is not a DP or boost elbow.

I honestly can't see how the stock elbow poses much of a restriction at all, and IF IT DOES, it's nothing you can't fix with a die grinder and some time.

Certainly NOT worth the $200 or whatever they charge for an unnecessary piece.

JMO, as always-- I've been wrong before.

I second Hohn's post. . Banks is basically overpriced products from other vendors that they stamp BANKS on. You should be ok with what you have. . If you are running a stock 35, a 4" DP will help a little bit, but it is when you step up to the plate to get a bigger turbo that a 4" downpipe is beneficial. Just thought I would chime in. But just steer clear of BANKS junk. FYI, They have Poor, POOR customer service and support too. .
