Mopar,

It,s a bigger turbo than a HX-40. It is the same size as a HX-55. It came off of a L-10 engine. It,s not a bolt up turbo. You have to make up mounting adaptors to install it. Spool up is alittle slower than a HX-40, but i had it modified by Majestic turbo so now spool up is equal to a HX-40. The plus is that you pick up some extra boost and cool down the exh temps.

Don,
I just installed one on my truck. E-mail me and I will try and answer all your questions.

Hey y'all:

I'm pretty happy with my set-up for pulling my big ole 15K lb 5th wheel. In Oct, I pulled it from Texas to Maryland, ran the speed limit all the way (even up the 6% grades) and never went over 1,200 degrees climbing and averaged between 600 and 800 degrees pulling flat at 70 mph. Got 10. 02 MPG avg for the whole trip. #ad

I looked real hard at the Banks, but price and the the quality of other products swayed me to put my own set-up together. Saved enough to buy an exhaust brake and RS 9000 shocks. #ad

I have seen repeatedly at the dyno runs... trucks with 275's and VA combo push 280-285hp, and trucks with the Banks powerpak push 290hp. Now,the price difference doesn't seem worth it to me between those two combos. If it's long term reliability you want, don't buy any fueling box... but just so you know, the Banks Ottomind is a fueling box.

My honest opinion, the best way to achieve hp is with Diesel Dynamic injectors, stage II or III. My truck has the stage II set-up in it and dynoed 300hp/650tq. The only two other mods were K&N 0880 air filter and a straight-pipe 3" exhaust. That's all! And my exhaust temps are NO different than stock.

Total cost of a stage II set-up is $900.
Banks kit is over $2K... that leaves me plenty of cash to buy other things.

DD's injectors don't wash down the cylinder walls. You can check that with oil samples.

Don,

I'm in Knoxville and I have DD3's, 4inch, and Scotty air. When you get the Banks kit on, lets get the trucks together and compare notes. Line em' up if you want?! I too am curious about the new TLC box. It seems to have some nice features, and I would like to check it out.

As for the no cut and splice method, the Banks attaches just like any other fueling box, so you will end up with nicks on your pump wires. That info came straight from Banks, as I called them about the new TLC box when it first came out.

As for the injectors, I have shown no fuel in my oil with analysis, and I only smoke the countryside when and if I want too.

And no, I am not knocking Banks products. In fact, I have one of their exhaust systems on my truck. Very nice! I just think it would be nice to see how they match up. Also, if you need an extra hand with the install, I'll be glad to help you out.
