Hey katdiesel,HVAC and mopar-muscle you guys are so in love with the edge and that gay boost module thing and 4" exhaust from ted gentry that ain't stainless steel and have to weld brackets on. Why don't you just get the Banks stinger plus. You get 4" stainless pipe turbo to tailpipe, stainless muffler, boost and EGT meter, ottomind fueling module, bigger exhaust turbine housing and bigger wastegate actuator, perfect wireing harnes, everything just plugs in. The ottomind takes input from boost signal and EGT temps and throttle positon to add the perfect amount of fuel. It will also decreace fueling if EGT's are to high. It all just plugs in! Just spend the $2000. 00 and get it over with. Buy the time you get all the other stuff seperate your going to spend that much any way. Banks has been around for a long time. The kit is quality stuff and it is all desiged to work togeher in one package. These other fly by nite companys are shooting from the hip. If you want a quality product get the Banks system it all works together.

I have openly stated if Banks works for you then by all means spend the money for it. If you go read this thread you will see where I PROVED you can get the same amount of power (and probably more) for LESS money. Banks not worth the cost

A couple of points :
The exhaust is fine if it works for you but I like customer service along with my products and two calls into Banks proved they don't got it. I have no need for a muffler so that is a mute point that its stainless.

The gauges are tacky as hell and wouldn't install them if they were free. I have three AutoMeter Ultra Lites (Boost,EGT, transmission Temp).

Funny you called the PowerEdge with its Boost module "Gay", WHAT do you think the Ottomind is and does??? Only with the PowerEdge I have Three different levels of power I can apply.

Thats nice that they change your turbo housing for you since there is NO NEED to at that level. You will actually lose some performance. Smaller is faster and bigger is slower! (Until you reach a certain performance level of course).

As I have stated several times if Banks works for you then by all means great. We just want the "new" people to see the options because most likely all they have heard of is Banks when they first come here.

Once again these are my OPINIONS not the "law of diesel". Just trying to show people they have options.

As a friendly bet find a Banks truck, and I will build my truck with the modifications listed in the previous thread and I garentee you mine will dyno higher. And actually spend less then the amount quoted because those were retail prices NOT the discounted prices I have recieved.

Any questions??

Time for my two cents. I have the Banks turbo back exhaust on my truck. It is a very nice exhaust system. All the hangers are welded on, and it fits great. I went with this system after dealing with two other systems that didn't meet my standards. And yes, it is stainless, though it may be overkill on a diesel. Was it worth the money? No. Would I buy it again? Probably. In my opinion, if you can weld, then the JRE looks to be the best.

Additionally, I don't have the rest of the Banks kit. However, it isn't that bad of a deal when you consider you get everything down to the gauges and a K&N. But, I don't plan on buying any more of the Banks kit. I feel there are better options out there for the money. The bigger turbo is something I question with the amount of power the kit puts out?

After having dealt with Banks, I feel they are definately more corporate than others out there. In fact, I didn't even buy my exhaust from Banks. I got it through Blue Chip. It was cheaper from them?!

In conclusion, is Banks bad? No. Is Banks the best? Also, no. In the end, it is a matter of opinion. If we all liked the same stuff, it might get boring. Finally I would like to ask, Can't We All Just Get Along?!

You hit the nail right on the head Kat!

Before I join TDR I thought there was no one else but Banks. I've called them a couple of times and Found out how arrogant they are with their over priced, low power products.

Hell one of the guys that I talked to from Banks tried to convince me that I should've bought a PSD until I shut him up real quick when I asked him about the Outrageous price of the PSD injectors. One guy tried to tell me that the other products didn't even work and that Banks products are the only ones that are dyno proven. Boy,did they ever cut their own throat. Wonder if Gale knows how much buisiness that his own employees are chasing away?

#2 dsl , what are you smokin' dude ? BANKS may make a fine product , but i know for a fact i can make more power for LESS money , and i'm not buying their warranty BS either . if i had a CHEVY and wanted a twin turbo setup then i would call BANKS , but i have a CUMMINS and i have personally been to BLUE CHIP and the JANNETTY ENTERPRISES ( note spelling of ted's last name bozo). these are BOTH CLASS ACTS and neither TALK BAD about anyone elses product . if they don't like something they say nothing and thats enough for me to consider what to do and who to buy from .

how much power is that banks kit ? i'm probably very close to it for HALF the cost.

hey man DON'T bogart that joint !! #ad

I know a guy with 2 banks equiped PSDs and they are in the shop more than they run. Im sure he will tear me a new a-- but he has yet to make it the full quarter mile in one piece. LOL I would bet an edge box 275 injectors, and a strait pipe would bury a banks kit.

Well by August I should have (target completion date) :

  • AutoMeter UltraLite Gauges (here, waiting on dash pod)
  • PowerEdge Box (here)
  • Modified transmission (new TC and Valvy body from my transmission guy)
  • JRE 4" Exhaust (Straight Piped)
  • Pyscotty Air System
  • DD Stage III(A) Injectors
  • Probably upgrade the fuel lines

This is what I hope to see my truck at.

Man HVAC has good self control. I am afraid I agree with KatDiesel on this one very nicely put. I HAD a Banks kit and one piece at a time I have found a better and cheaper way to do it. Mostly because I want MORE POWER. The Banks kit worked exactly as advertised but IMHO I think you can achieve the same thing for less. In the beginning the customer service from Banks was great then it slipped to Bad. I think they are trying to fix that, growing pains and employee turnover I think. Enough said for now.

<font color=teal>Naw HVAC just hasn't seen it yet. He's been busy with Email and etc. . with trying to get his business running. However I have alerted him to the presence of this thread! #ad

2DSL,Unfortunately Banks was the first products I saw, because they advertise everywhere you look. I had no idea there were so many other choices. I had serious problems with the Banks plate - totally wrong fuel curve. I found out that their cust. serv. motto is "If you can't dazzle em with brilliance, baffle em with bullsh*t". They finally let me talk to an engineer - anyway that's what they called him and he was clueless. After a month, they sent me a different plate. For a long time I thought it worked pretty good until I put the TST #11 in this spring. Now I have great driveability and MUCH more useable power, far superior to Banks' setup. I've talked to Banks(and other vendors) about what they're doing with the ISB's too, and I'm not at all impressed with Banks! If you haven't tried other products, don't bash them! Craig

Hey Kat you know that HVAC is a civilized guy that doesn't want to slam anyones products but when we were discussing this topic I could read between his chuckles.

I hear you're getting his fuel line setup. Let us know the pressure difference at WOT. I know that I'm gonna need this with the Warp Drive #3 program I'm getting.

I beleive the banks box is the same as the TST Powermaxx.
