I have one on my truck. CShomer, a TDR member liked his so I got one. Right of the bat I noticed the truck ran and idled smooth. The engine seemed to rev up easier too. I doesn't add HP or Torque.
Things I didn't like. PITA to install. Took me a whole day. Splitting the heater element into 2 and scraping the old gasket off the intake took 4 hours.
Simple AFC housing adjustments, boost elbow setscrew adjustments and fuel filter changes are a major pain. The manifold covers up alot of stuff that was in the open.
Would I buy another?
I doubt it.
I does equal out exhaust temps pretty good. You could do the same thing by porting your head. See below from an older post:
In TDR issue # 25 Scott Dalgleish mounted an EGT probe in each cylinder head exhaust port on his '98 12 valve truck. He was comparing the OE intake to the Banks TwinRam. He says that the engine was run at a constant RPM. What RPM is not stated. It must be up there. Here were his findings in degrees F:
Banks TwinRam:
Cylinder # 1-1264°
# 2-1248°
# 3-1216°
# 4-1216°
# 5-1248°
# 6-1216°
Stock:
Cylinder # 1-1296°
# 2-1272°
# 3-1216°
# 4-1248°
# 5-1264°
# 6-1232°
... ... The test results indicate that the stock setup has an 80° difference between the high & low cylinder temperatures. The TwinRam shows only 48° between the high and low, a decrease of roughly 60% in temperature differential. Morever, note that three of the cylinders are operating at 1216°, two at 1248°. Cylinder number one continues to slightly hotter (1264°) due to an accessory casting in the port of the head which causes a restriction of air flow to that cylinder... ... .....
