Got a new 2001 with 2700mi, 24valve QC 4X4, 5 spd. Curious abouts the Banks boost systems. Do they really improve MPG and by how much??? Is there any effect on the noise levels???Also, can't seem to find prices anywhere, what do they cost???Should I break it in before installing such a system???Thanks!!!

For your money,IMO,the EZ edge is the best ,Banks, while good,is to expensive. The edge can be popped off in under 5 minutes if you need warranty work, and will help your low end,and fuel mileage. I also notice a quieter, smoother idle, and much improved throttle response, which helps a lot with 5 speed trucks, getting the turboto spool up quicker between shifts, and taking off.

The cost of the Banks kit is pricey, $2,195 for the Stinger Plus in a crate. THe installation around here is approx $1,000. I had a Banks kit installed on a 2000 Ford and was not that happy with the results. You can get alot more bang for the buck going individual pieces, such as Edge EZ, 4" exhausts, gauges, pyrometer and boost. I have $1,300 in just such mods to my 01 Dodge and am very very pleased. I did all the work myself with the exception of the exhaust and I had Jerry Jardine in Dubois, Wy remove the old system and install the 4" Jardine exhaust system for $40. plus the $432 for the exhaust system. With these mods only this made a much bigger difference in terms of power, keeping temps down than did the Banks kit on the Ford. Hope this helps.
