I'm having a problem with rough running and when idleing, the tach dropped off to nothing. The truck doesn't want to stay running and then all the sudden my tach jumps back to life, and the truck jumps like crazy. My dealer can't take the truck until Monday, are there any specifics to look for? CODES P0500, P1693, P1690 & P0341.

See Sig for truck specs.

Thanks

to help you get started 1693= turbo charge control circuit malfunction 1690= wasgate solinoid circuit 0341= camshaft position sensor circuit range/performance.

at least this might give you some ideas:confused:

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, is this a possible do it myself or does a certified Cummins Tech/Shop have to do this? Any suggestions? Again, thanks for the help.

Sounds like the Crankshaft Position Sensor is bad. I would do it myself unless the dealer will do it under warranty. The part will be about $40 and it will take about an hour to put it in. Worst part is removing the starter to get to it.

You must have these codes mixed up with something else... A 1693 code is a companion module fault, meaning that there is a small fault in the PCM or ECM. 1690 is not a wastegate solenoid code, as there is no wastegate solenoid on any Cummins ISB. The 1690 is a fault in the fuel sync signal between the VP44 injection pump and the CKP sensor.

The 0500 is a no VSS code, and the 0341 is camshaft position sensor signal fault.

Sounds like a bad cam sensor, because there is no CKP sensor on an HO 24V. Check the connections and report back! :D

 SORRY FOR THE BAD INFO, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE TO GET A GOOD LIST FOR THE ISB'S. SORRY ONCE AGAIN I'LL TRY TO MAKE SURE I HAVE MY FACTS STRAIGHT:) :) :)

OK guys. It's back up and running. I found a loose connection, which I assume it was the cam position sensor. Made a few non-malfunctioning starts. Light went out. Still need to take for codes to be cleared. I appreciate you guys leading my in the right direction. This site is great.

PS: Told the wife to buy me a shop manual for X-mas. ;)
