I need some help. I am having turbo bark all the time. I have an AFE stage 2, edge juice with attitude, MBRP cool duals, and a 3 day old new trans. The trans has an ATS triple lock TC, transGo shift kit, and HTS internals. The new trans shifts so nice and firm and much quicker then the stock one. On any power level of the edge the turbo barks when I go into lockup and over drive. It does it at full throttle and at part. The only way I can stop it is to get off of the throttle totally. Is this a waste gate issue?

I can't imagine that it is an exhaust leak. Other than the bark I never hear anything else. The exhaust sounds great and the engine sounds wonderful. I will check it, but do you ahve any other suggestions?

Mine started it as soon as my TC/Trans upgrades were done. Seems a number of trucks with TC/Trans have this issue. Some more than others. Mine is a custom low stall 3 disc TC and full billet race build. Before my BOV mine would bark at OD/Lockup with sustained 1/2 to full throttle and any time I let off quickly from medium to heavy throttle.

Not really much you can do besides a BOV and learning to drive with it. The BOV is an expensive mod and does not completely eliminate barking on full WOT at OD/Lockup. But it does stop almost all other barking.

BTW there are a number of threads on turbo barking you should be able find with search. Quite a lot of opinions and information in them, but other than a BOV not a lot of other fixes.

Thanks, for the help. I did a search and nothing really jumped out at me. I know that it is not good for the turbo, I just don't know how bad it is. The only thing my search did show is that few if any like BOV's on diesels. I welcome any other help or ideas. I am not trading my trans for bark! I will keep the trans and live with the bark.

I am happy with my BOV, it has done what I wanted it to do. The barking is not good for a turbo. Probably worse on stock turbo, but I have seen lots of threads on turbos barking and don't really remember any that actually nuked a turbo. My II SPS66 supposedly can take some barking without problems, but it still makes me cringe when it happens. The BOV eliminated all the barking except in race mode.
