Basic Q's time - what does an Edge do?

For that matter, what do the plug in boxes DO? Stop defueling? Move shift points up? Down? Adjust timing?



On the adjustable ones, what does 1x1 mean? 5x5?



Do you have to wait for the 'wait to start' light to turn off before restarting the truck if it is warm?



Are aftermarket lift pumps better than the Cummins replacement?

As you're doing your research, don't confuse the Edge EZ for the 3rd generation trucks (2003 and up) with the Edge EZ for the 2nd generation 24 valve trucks (1998. 5 through 2002). They are completely different applications. If you see someone posting about an Edge EZ, be sure you know whether it's a 2nd generation or 3rd generation application.



Briefly, a 2nd generation Edge EZ provides additional fuel and advances timing within the absolute constraints programmed into the ECM and VP-44. It also functions as a boost fooler, allowing additional boost (when used with a boost elbow or other wastegate mods) to provide the air needed to burn the extra fuel and to control EGTs.
