i replaced the lift pump in my truck a couple of months ago. it was loosing pressure at low rpm's.

last weekend my truck would not start and the batteries were almost dead. i had never had any signs of trouble with batteries. i charged the batteries, started it and noticed i had very low fuel pressure. thought to myself- glad i have a couple more school bus lift pumps.

i put in two new group 27 batteries tonight. both are matched from the same mfg, same date code and picked up from the warehouse.

the truck fired right up and the fuel pressure was fine.

the motor spins over much quicker than before. looks like the lift pump was not getting enough voltage either.

i ordered larryb's starter contacts and plunger and will put them in as soon as they get here. i'm at 111k.

I've noticed when it's cold, and the grid heaters come on, the idle is very busy. . the tack is bouncing around. Once the heaters go off-line the idle is like a rock.

I'm pulling the relays to the grid heaters and just going to plug the truck in at night. Starting to think voltage fluctuations etc might be part of the LP problem.

Think I'll go over to NAPA and have them check the batteries. They seem to be working fine. . but... .....
