Well... with a WHOPPING 4,411 miles on my rig in a couple months time, one of the batteries is already showing signs of crapping out. (and you thought the fuel sender was marginal)

anywho, I've been familar w/ Optima Batteries from Baja Racing applications.

But isn't it kinda interesting how similar some of these "other" batteries are?

anyone have any experience w/ "the otherguys?"

Warranty or not, I'm not putting much stock in these OEM pieces of snikey. (note to DC, YOUR SHORT LIVED FAILURES JUST WIND UP SITTING ON WOODEN PALLETS IN MEXICO, "RECYCLED", LEAKING LEAD AND ACID, thanks for flooding the market with such quality parts!)

I've heard that Excide(sp?)are just as good as Optimas, about the same price though, but you won't get that pretty red or yellow top.

I love the Optima batteries, they have the most consistent power I've ever used. Can mount them anywhere with no worries and I can get them from a local company very cheap. E-mail me if you want pricing, I got mine for around 100 a piece or so, shipping included to my door.

Not to dash water on the Optima or the look alike, but has anybody used a Delco Freedom Battery in the Ram with success? I have a GM car, and it came with one of these as OEM (of course). The car now has 208,000 and 11 years on it. I think the original battery went for 7 or 8 years. The second one lasted less than 2 years and was replaced under warranty. The 3rd one is now going strong. I have never had to clean the terminals in all of this time, the cleanest exterior on a battery I have ever seen. They are truly sealed up too, or least I have never figured out how to open one up, further more I have had no need, never low on fluid. From my personnel experience I will be inclined to go with the GM batteries when the time comes, unless they don't work very good in our high current starting trucks??????

Max I use Interstate batteries and find them to be very good. Another brand that is very good is Varta, but they are hard to find,UAP used to carry them, they also make industrial batteries for forklifts and the like.
Another thing you may want to do is to check the charging system, it may be overcharging and burning up your batteries. Is it also possible that the local temperatures may be drying out your batteries, I look after the forklift batteries at work and in summer have to add water frequently, but almost never add water in the winter.

I just bought the Interstate/Optima's (2 days ago). I bought one dual terminal ($113) and one single terminal ($105) from my local Interstate dealer. Hope they last like everyone says!!!!

Exide batteries are junk. The core of the Exides is not made of the same quality as say Interstate Batteries. For non-Optima batteries Interstate and Wolverine batteries have proven to be very good batteries through the years. I recently had to make the battery decision, I went with Wolverine's. The battery guy said the Optimas are a good battery but I could buy 2 regular batteries for the price of one Optima, and are they going to last longer? Until someone proves that to me I can't justify the extra cost. If you can, avoid telling them you are putting the batteries in a diesel. I've heard of some shops cutting the warranty in half. Must be the 100 amp grid heaters huh?
