Had to replace my alternator yesterday. As far as I could tell it was the original and lasted 144k miles. I opted for an affordable CARQUEST rebuilt from Advance Auto just so I could get her back on the road.
Anyway, it appears the batteries are around 3-1/2 years old based on the date stamps on the labels. They tested ok but I know I'll likely be looking to replace them at some point in the next couple of years. The more immediate problem seems to be the cables. The crossover cable has some signs of corrosion on the drivers side and 3 of the 4 terminals have some cracks in the ears. I've heard that the OEM cables are pretty much non-existent. I suppose I could get some bulk cable and make my own but was wondering if there is any aftermarket source for 3G cables. I thought I saw something here a while ago but haven't been able to find it by searching.
What's the general consensus on replacing these?
