Symptoms of a Dying Battery (-ies) ?

I would like to know the Fuse or Fuse link AMP rating in a 2004. 5 charging circuit. I cannot find the fuse in the manual. (Maybe there is none?)



I see the alternator has a rating of 136 amps.



Would anyone know how many amps the alternator would be producing if both starting batteries were discharged to say 50% when the charging started...

The fuse is rated 140 amps and is in the PDC, it is actually a strip mounted at the point where the big cables come in/exit. I expect the alternator would max out if you revved the engine when the batteries were low and could exceed 136 amps. bg
 
I'm sure there is a fuseable link in the out put of the alternator...

Your question really is hard to answer... . here's why... .

The engine ECM controls the alternator output (voltage) based on outside air temperature... this temperature (voltage) control will limit the output of the alternator...

On a cold day its not uncommon to see 14. 2 - 14. 4 at the alternator or batteries but on a hot day when the batteries can be overcharged, you might not any more than 13. 8 - 14 volts...

If you think about it... the voltage is like the water pressure in a pipe... . the higher water pressure the more water will flow through the same size pipe... . so if you control the voltage you limit the output and the overall charge time... .

The design is to supply the complete system and all the other stuff we install, and the design is to charge the battery in a reasonable amount of time...

I'm sure the engineers who designed the system have a chart or could make one up... but I assume what the dealer does is connect a scan tool and it will tell him all the checks are within tolerance... .
