On my motorhome I have 4 batteries under the hood. They are connected in parallel and are used for both the coach and truck at the same time. I have a solar panel and inverter too. I have a dead cell in one of the batteries and need to replace it. I also happen to have a couple of extra good batteries sitting around but of a different size. Question! Should all 4 batteries be the same size/amperage? Or, because they are wired in parallel can I mix sizes?

Larry, i wanted to know also, about the only info I could find said that mixing new/old and different types of batteries was "a recipe for disappointment. "

At least it isn't a recipe for disaster:)

About the only other info I found was for electronics batteries where of course they always tell you to replace all at once with the same type.

What are you supposed to do though, buy four new ones?

Here's the info http://www.sailnet.com/collections/gearandmaintenance/index.cfm?articleID=woodto006

Thanks Bill for the article on Battery charging and etc. That was good and how's the fishing up there. What's the weather like? Radar doctor.

Thanks Bill and all.

I think I'll follow the "recipe" and use the batteries I have on hand. I can always throw money at my disappointment later. :D
