Just received two new Odyssey AGM batteries to replace my 9 year old one's. Checking the batteries I discovered they were two different model numbers. Size wise they fit into the battery tray's with no problem, however one is 850CCA and the other is 950CCA. Any idea if the difference in CCA will be an issue ? Truck is 1995 2500 4x4. I really would hate the process of shipping one back.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Well normally batteries should be matched, however I would just go for it if you ordered two 850CCA and got one that is 950CCA. SNOKING

Thanks, I know they should be matched and have always did that. I guess I will wait and see what the vendor does. Not thinking I posted this in the 2nd generation, in stead of just the general forum.

When you measure the CCA you're measuring the internal resistance of the battery. If they're the same then each provides 50% of the current to the starter or grid heater and should age similarly. If the CCA is different then it might be 55:45 or 60:40 and one battery will get more use. Does it matter? They're both big and almost the same so probably not. There's probably a 10% variation in similar batteries anyway. Ideally you should check a bunch of "identical" batteries and use a matched set.

Thanks for the info. I have done a lot of research on this, and I believe it would be fine, however I know I will feel better with a matched pair. The company understands that they shipped the wrong battery and will replace it at their expense, I just have to get it to a UPS store to ship it back.
Thanks for the response's.
