Would it matter if I put in 875 CCA batteries vs. what the truck calls for - 750 CCA? I don't want to burn out the starter or anything?

Costco/Kirkland brand sells 875 CCA batteries for $60. 00 each with a 2 year free replacement and a total of 72 months, I thought this was a pretty good price, I have heard a lot of good comments about Optimas, but at $119. 00 each I could buy four Costco batteries, I have been using Costco batteries in the car and RV (deep cycle) with no problems.

Any special procedure when replacing our dual battery set-up? Remove both negatives first, or one battery at a time?

I thought the procedure is negative off, then positive off, then positive back on, then negative on, is this correct? Thanks!

I have 850 CCA Optima's in mine and love them. You can run the stronger batteries with no problems at all. I changed out one battery at a time on mine, but you need to be very careful with the positive leads if you do, it will be hot at all times. The safest way to do it is to romove both negatives, then both positives. Change out the batteries, then reconnect the positives and then the negatives. Hope this helps.

If you do the one battery at a time swap you will not have to reset all of the radio and clock settings. To protect from accidental grounding of the positve cable slide a glove or wrap a rag around the cable end. When I had one of my batteries out the other day I had to turn the key on to test what I was doing. The check engine light came on, But it went off after a few restarts. The Check engine light might have been triggered because I had unplugged the battery heat sensor.

battery swap

tschwab, Don't take any chances. Disconnect one negative terminal then the other negative one. Then disconnect both positive terminals. Reconnect is just the opposite, Both positives then the negitives. On my 96 the only thing I have to reset is the clock. The radio also seems but all I have to do there is press the mode key and my presets are right there.
