Santa brought my sweetheart a new set of batteries for her '05 3500. Of course, I had to install them <LOL>. I thought this would be a good time to put an on board battery charger under the hood. I thought I didn't have much space to add stuff on to my '96, but I'm thinking this is worse. I thought there might be enough room underneath or behind the passenger side battery tray. It seems that's where I put the Brite box on mine. So, I removed the four bolts in the top edge and the back and the two coming in from the wheel well. I push, pulled, pried and whispered sweet things to it. My friend was over, and he didn't have any better luck than I did. So, there was almost enough room between the tray and the coolant recovery jug, but not quite. Thought about maybe u-bolting it to the air horn on the intake manifold. Of course, no square u-bolts, and I figured I best be for putting Mama's truck back together before it got any colder, darker and the snow hit. So back to the question, what is the trick to getting those battery trays out? Unfortunately, we don't have a FSM for her truck, only a Chiltons and it didn't show much. I thought maybe it snapped into a cut out in the fender, but just couldn't remove it and really didn't want to demolish it trying too hard.
So, if there is some trickery to that and someone would share it with me, I'd be grateful.
Thank you.

Yup 6 bolts, 2 in the top of the fender 2 go in the side of the fender and 2 more only accesible once the fender liner is removed

At least it's really easy to remove the fender liner. :) So...which battery charger did you decide to go with?
