Well fellers we spent a good 5 hours on my front end yesterday installing an ARB Locker, pulled everything out of the axle all bearings, all seals, cleaned the crap out of the tubes etc... . rebuilt whole front end installed the ARB looking great buttoned it up cleaned the axles up good went to slide them in and they didn't match the Locker. Apparently I have 30 spline axles not 32 as was ordered in the ARB, and wouldn't you know it we find out at 6:00pm everything is closed and its Easter weekend. So the truck is sitting on jack stands for about 4 days if we get it fixed by Tuesday. Does anybody know what year the front akles were shifted to 32 spline ? I think I would like to just find some 32 spline inner shafts and call the learning curve an upgrade. Will the 32 spline fit with out any difficulty ? were is the place to get the 32 spline shafts if they will fit, Moser ?

Scott, I don't know about the axles, but here's something to be aware of. I had my Front ARB installed a little over a year ago. The ARB is quite a bit larger than the stock open carrier. Just this past winter my front pinion bearing seized up. Due to the larger size of the ARB, it wasn't flinging enough oil around to lubricate the pinion bearing. The solution was to add a bung and plug high up on the differential cover, so extra gear lube can be added. So far so good. Hopefully this will save you some grief, as I'm sure you will abusing your ARB way more than I will mine. Hope everything works out. Glen

geesh that sucks--I haven't a clue where to get 32 spline axles--looks like you got some internet time on your hands to figure it out---but if it was ordered for a Dana 60 front there has to be some out there--now whether they will work for our trucks is another matter--especially because of the vacuum disconnect---good luck--later tonight I'll see if I can find something out, but right now I have got some things to do on my truck--brakes, brake lines, shocks, finish the NOS wiring(two year process), adjust steering wheel, and the list continues----chris

Scott, sorry to hear about your bad luck. Moser doesn't list it on their site, but I am sure they can build you what you want, if it comes to that.

BTW, the change to 32 spline was in 98+ trucks.

I tried a while back to order 35 spline for the front and the folks at moser said they would need a minimum order of 100 to start tooling up : (

Rob, So I should be able to get the 32 spline in the dana spicer ?

I would think so, but not absolutely sure. If everything else in the alxe's are the same, (among the different splined years) I would think you could simply get a standard set of shafts from a 98+ Dodge Dana 60, and your all set.

I'm sure Moser has a set of those, and they may be less expensive than factory replacments.

just food for thought, if you order a passenger axle from a 02 you can get it in a solid axle. the stripped models came without a axle disconnect. this would be the way to go. i have put 20k+ miles on my arb's without a problem.

Apparently the one piece drive shaft in the 02 is approx 1/2" longer. and I don't have the time to wait for moser to build me one, can't imagine what it would cost as well. I decided to just remove the 32 spline ARB and get the correct 30 spline one and install it along with the posi-lock to replace the cad.

I haven't heard of two many people, if any, breaking the 30 spline axles in the front Dana 60's while sled pulling.

Thanks for the info guys

scott

i wonder if the 1/2" is really a increase in total length or if thats what they had to add sense it's a one peice. i guess a guy would have to call the local dealer and see if there are different part #'s for the complete axle housing's between the two.

my guess is the 1/2" is just to compinsate for the old 2 peice unit.

i'm sure you won't have any problems with the 30 spline axles

Okay I am back on the road as of last night just put the right 30 spline ARB in we also added the Posi-Loc and removed the cad stuff. Thanks to all here, and a big thanks to Don Doan at DND Enterprises in Vacaville CA for the install. Of course I will have some pics up soon :)
