Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
well, a little over a week ago i decided to get some exhaust and the bd 5" got my buy. dean at bd was pretty good at explaining the product. they say it is stainless [409 i guess, there is no aluminumizing coat on it] and is 4" dp and 5" past that like many others. and today with the weather so nice, i took about 2 hours to get it put in. the factory crimp clamps were a real pita, so i just got the sawsall out and made 2 cuts to get the old system out [right at end of dp, and just past the muffler at the tail pipe]. the bd kit comes with crimp clamps, but i didn't want to use those, so i got some stainless band clamps from my local truck shop. it also comes with a chrome tip, but i did not put that on...
well, i also did fire the engine up with just the dp in place, and it doesn't sound so good. my 6. 5TD engine sounded nicer with just the dp in place. but with the whole system in place, it sounds real nice i think. nice rumble at idle and it is not obnoxius in the cab at hwy speeds... the only thing you really hear is when the waste gate opens you hear like an air leak through the exhaust system.
the fit of the system is pretty good... i did have to tweek the DP hanger [was welded in maybe 1/4" to far up the pipe] with a hammer to clearence it... now i didn't even try to see if my 315 spare would fit in there [it doesn't look like it will fit, but it always fits in the box]
spool up down low is improved from stock -you really notice it down low in 4th making right/left turns...
over all i like it a lot, now i just hope the paint i put on the pipes last [black pipes look better to me than raw metal, and 409ss rusts on the surface easially]
